Suvic manages a new wind farm project for Fortum

Suvic has agreed a significant project management contract concerning Fortum’s new Kalax wind farm in Närpes, Finland. The total capacity of the wind farm is estimated to be 90 MW, with an annual power supply over 300 GWh. The wind farm will consist of 21 wind turbines.

The wind farm will be Fortum’s first large-scale wind farm in Finland. The project management contract covers nearly all construction work, such as earthworks, foundations and other infrastructure, but it excludes turbine deliveries and installation.

“We developed the project in cooperation with Fortum so that the company can participate in the renewable energy scheme. The objective was to create a competitive package, which we succeeded in doing. It is a great pleasure for us to participate in the construction of an emission-free energy production system,” says Suvic’s CEO Juha Tikkakoski.

The work will start in early summer 2019, and Suvic will complete its part of the project in April 2020. The wind farm is expected to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2021.
