Suvic in charge of infrastructure work for the Vaala Metsälamminkangas wind farm

Suvic Oy, based in Oulu, Finland, has won its second major contract in Northern Finland in a short period of time. Suvic will be in charge of infrastructure work for the Metsälamminkangas wind farm located in Vaala. The wind farm will be the third largest in Finland, and it will consist of 24 wind turbines. The contractor is OX2.

Suvic will be in charge of the earthworks, foundations and internal cabling of the wind farm located in Vaala, Northern Ostrobothnia. This is the second major project Suvic has won in a short period of time: at the end of January the company announced that TuuliWatti has chosen Suvic to design and build the foundations for the Sarvisuo wind farm in Simo. Renewable energy projects are a significant part of Suvic’s business, and the company, which was established in 2017, is growing rapidly. Budgeted net sales will be more than EUR 30 million this year.

CEO Juha Tikkakoski of Suvic Oy is satisfied with the continuing cooperation with OX2: “It is wonderful to be able to work on major sites at the national level. We value our continuing cooperation with OX2, because it is the leading contractor in the wind power industry. We previously cooperated on the Långmossa and Ribäcken wind farm projects in Malax.”

Mr Tikkakoski hopes that Suvic will do its bit to boost local business in the area: “We will utilise local labour and services, such as for catering and accommodation, as much as possible during the project.”

Suvic will start working in Vaala in April 2020, and its part in the project will largely be finished during spring 2021. OX2 will deliver the wind farm turnkey to the buyer Lundin Petroleum once commissioned in December 2021. The annual energy production will be about 400 gigawatt hours per year.
