Suvic to build the foundations and the internal grid for the expansion of the Lappfjärd wind farm

Suvic has continued to build the Lappfjärd wind farm for Prime Capital together with CPC Finland. The expansion part of Lappfjärd will be built in the same area where the wind farm, which was put into operation in 2023, was built in the first phase, comprising 31 foundations and an internal grid. In the expansion part, foundations and an internal network will be built for eight power plants in the same area. The rocky soil of the area enables the construction of all the foundations of the extension part as rock anchor foundations.

The importance of careful planning work is emphasized in this project, especially in terms of cabling, as the area already has an underground cable network in use. In the planning and implementation of the cabling, protective distances and crossings must be considered, so that the cables work optimally for both farms.

“We have already started casting the foundations, and the cabling work should start in the next few days. The project started quickly for us and is progressing well. It’s great to be able to continue working on the expansion part”, says Olli Varis, the foreman responsible for Suvic’s construction work.

The production capacity of the expansion part is 58 MW, which increases the total capacity of the wind farm to 250 MW.
