What is it like to work as a summer trainee at Suvic?

09 February, 2023
Our summer trainees Jesse and Sofia shared their thoughts about the summer of 2022.

In the summer of 2022, summer trainees Sofia Savolainen and Jesse Jokihaara started working at Viiatti's wind farm construction sites for Suvic. Sofia is studying energy and environmental engineering, and Jesse is studying construction and civil engineering. Both are now 4th-year students at SAMK.

Sofia and Jesse say that the work has been versatile, nice, and relaxed.

There hasn't been too much rush at work, and both have been able to learn about HSEQ, reinforcements, concreting, organizing logistics, and many other day-to-day things at the construction site.

Jesse got a summer job at Suvic through an email sent by the school, and Sofia through a recommendation from a friend.

Jesse has previously been a trainee as a foreman, operating an excavator among other things. Sofia, on the other hand, had no previous experience working in the construction industry but says she has learned a lot during the summer.

The responsible supervisors of the construction sites, Esko Erkkilä and Jorma Järvenpää said that both of them have been a great help on the construction sites and have learned a lot about the field.

Jesse and Sofia were proactive and took on new things without hesitation, you could trust them that the assigned tasks would be completed on time.

Sofia and Jesse recommend Suvic as a summer employer.

Jesse says that compared to previous summer jobs, Suvic has been the best employer. Both of them have continued to work alongside their studies throughout the fall and winter at Viiatti's sites. At the turn of the year, they moved to Suvici's Pori office to work on their theses.
